Visualising Parliament

Take a look at who are the Members in the Dáil and Seanad, party strengths, constituency representation, debates and how your public representative has voted.

Find an office holder

Ireland has been led by a Government nominated by the Dáil since 1919. Use the date dropdown and search current and previous office holders.

Upon the nomination of a Taoiseach, the Dáil votes to give its assent to the nomination. A majority is required for a Taoiseach to be elected to the office and given the seal of office by the President. After a Taoiseach takes office a Cabinet of Ministers is nominated and the approval of the Dáil is again sought.

Search the current or previous Cabinets and Government leadership.

Find a TD

The Members of Dáil Éireann, the Lower House of the Houses of the Oireachtas, are elected by the people of Ireland. The Thirty-fourth Dáil has 174 Members representing 43 constituencies. A Member of the Dáil is commonly referred to as a Teachta Dála (TD) or Deputy.

Find a Senator

There are 60 Members of Seanad Éireann, the Upper House, and they are elected to five vocational panels and from two university constituencies, or they are nominated by the Taoiseach. A Member of the Seanad is referred to as a Seanadóir or Senator.
