Items of business before Dáil Éireann may be viewed on the Dáil Business website. The Questions Paper, which contains the texts of all oral, priority and written questions for the day is published.
Dáil Business
The Dáil Business website is a single source detailing all the items of business before the Dáil. It is a digital replacement for a physical order paper.
This resource provides access to the sitting schedule and allows users search for items of business, pin them for easy reference and easily share them on social media. Users may access this resource on all devices and even generate a copy of the information for printing in respect of a particular sitting day.
The Dáil business website allows users find information for a sitting week, including:
- The schedule of business
- Bills scheduled for discussion and those gone to Seanad Éireann
- Motions scheduled for discussion
- Statements scheduled to be made
- Money messages from the Government relating to proposed expenditure in Bills and Estimates
The Journal Office has responsibility for the the Dáil Business website. Members who wish to bring a Bill before the House should contact the Bills Office who, if the Bill is in order, will arrange for it to be added.
Members who wish to put a motion before the House should contact the Journal Office.
Questions Paper
The Questions Paper is an official document listing all questions submitted by Members for discussion and response in the Dáil. It is prepared by the Questions Office and published online as well as in print on campus. Deputies submit these questions to various Ministers in the Government to answer.
Questions are sometimes grouped by topic if multiple similar questions are asked by different members of a group.
Publishing schedule
The Questions Paper is released on the Dáil's regular sitting days, which are usually Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
During the summer break, Members may submit questions for two publication dates. These must be sent in writing by specific deadlines before or after the break. Even if the Dáil is not sitting, a Questions Paper may be produced with these questions and Ministers provide written answers that appear in the official record.
