942. Deputy Michael Moynihan asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs the reason for the centralisation of An Post sorting offices from rural post offices to central locations; if a detailed study was carried out to justify these changes; her views on the impact of these changes on other post offices in the areas affected; if these implications were taken into account; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Minister of State at the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht

The issue raised by the Deputy is an operational matter for the Board and management of An Post, which is a State company with commercial remit, and not one in which I have a role.

However, I have asked the company to provide the Deputy with further information on the matter.
