Deputy Claire Kerrane asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine if the report into treatment of animals in marts, as highlighted in a television programme (details supplied) in July 2023 has been completed; if the report can be published; the actions taken by his Department as a result of the programme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. View answerI can confirm that my Department is investigating suspected animal welfare related offences that may have occurred on mart premises arising from the footage broadcast by RTE on 10 July 2023.
The Department is continuing its evidence gathering in relation to these specific incidents and appropriate action will be taken.
Since these investigations are on-going, it would not be appropriate for me to comment further.
