Deputy Duncan Smith asked the Minister for Education if her Department will contact a school (details supplied) to clarify the status of two related applications for emergency works where a revised application for the urgent replacement of a floor and removal of asbestos was refused despite the fact that the inclusion of the asbestos removal was requested by her Department; if the original application for the floor replacement on its own can be approved, or if an appeal could be made to have the asbestos removed at the same time; if she can ensure that some works can take place this summer; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
