262. Deputy Louise O'Reilly asked the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage if the review of the rental accommodation scheme will be published ahead of Budget 2025. [27990/24]
View answerMy Department has completed a review of the Rental Accommodation Scheme (RAS). The review was carried out in consultation with the general public, key stakeholders (including all local authorities) and includes 23 recommendations for the future of the Rental Accommodation Scheme.
The review underscores the important role of RAS in Ireland’s social housing landscape and suggests modifications to ensure its effectiveness and expansion. It is the intention that this reinvigoration and refocusing of RAS will aim to encourage the retention of private landlords in RAS, to continue to ensure housing quality, and provide more immediate access to housing for vulnerable households.
The Implementation phase of the review has begun and my Department is engaging with each of the 31 local authorities regarding the recommendations contained in the review. The review is being prepared for publication and will be published in the coming weeks.
