I propose to take Questions Nos. 38 and 39 together.
The Defence Forces are responsible for the allocation of accommodation in each installation. This is managed by the military authorities, and as such, my Department is not directly involved, nor would it have the information requested. The military authorities have been requested to provide the material and while this could not be compiled in time I am advised that a response to the Deputy will be provided in the near future.
The following deferred reply was received under Standing Order 51.
I refer to the above mentioned Parliamentary Questions from 16th October 2024 which were taken in composite and deferred:
1. “To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Defence the number of personnel for whom the Defence Forces are currently providing single living accommodation, broken down by county, in tabular form; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
2. “To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Defence the number of single living accommodation units in possession of the Defence Forces which are vacant, broken down by county, in tabular form; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
While it was not possible to provide the requested information to you within the given timeframe, I am now in a position to provide information on this matter in the table below.
