Solar PV panels are installed under a number of scenarios and are supported under a number of Department funded and Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) administered schemes.

However, the primary method of supports for Solar PV panels is via the dedicated Domestic Solar PV scheme, which currently offers grants of up to €2,100 to all homeowners in homes built before 2021.  The scheme does not require a pre grant BER rating to be obtained but does require one to be provided after installation.

The table attached sets out the number of homes which had Solar PV installed each year, under the Domestic Solar PV scheme; as well as two other SEAI schemes, which also provide supports for Solar PV as part of a range of energy efficiency supports. These are the Community Energy Grants scheme and and the One Stop Shop Service. The BER ratings achieved post installation, are also included.
