266. Deputy Colm Brophy asked the Minister for Social Protection the estimated cost of increasing all weekly long-term unemployment payments by €5. [45957/24]
View answerThe estimated full year cost of increasing weekly long-term unemployment payments (Jobseeker's Allowance) by €5 per week is €36.4m.
This costing is based on 2024 rates and the estimated number of recipients.
It should be noted that this costing is subject to change in the context of emerging trends and associated revision of the estimated numbers of recipients for 2025. It should also be noted that these costings include proportionate increases for qualified adults and for those on reduced rates of payment, where relevant.
