Deputy Malcolm Byrne asked the Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science the number of second level schools that have exchange programmes with other EU countries that are supported through the Erasmus programme; the number of students involved; the countries involved; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Léargas manages the relevant Erasmus+ activities under the aegis of my Department.  According to data held by Léargas, please see below information relating to the Erasmus+ programme -

1. The Number of Second Level Schools with Erasmus+ funding  

152 Second Level Schools have carried out learner mobilities between 2021 and 2024.  

2. The Number of Students Involved  

1074 Second Level Students have taken part in Erasmus+ funded mobility activities between 2021 and 2024. 

3. The Countries Involved 

· Austria

· Czechia

· Finland

· France

· Germany

· Hungary

· Ireland

· Italy

· Malta

· Netherlands

· Norway

· Poland

· Spain

Ireland supports the EU mobility policy for schools and teachers and, in particular, the Erasmus+ Programme.  I hope that there will be the possibility for greater numbers of schoolchildren and teachers to participate in exchanges under Erasmus+ in the years ahead.
