On 25 March 2025, Government approved the publication of the Employment (Contractual Retirement Ages) Bill 2025. The Bill sets out measures which will allow, but not compel, employees to remain in employment until the state pension age of 66. This was a commitment in the Government's response to the Report of the Commission on Pensions. It is part of an overall package of measures designed to improve the adequacy and predictability of people's income in retirement.
