Questions (251)

Colm Burke

Question:

251. Deputy Colm Burke asked the Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications if an exemption could be made for an SEAI warmer homes scheme application (details supplied), in view that the applicant is the spouse of the person in receipt of the qualifying social welfare allowance, which is a requirement in the eligibility criteria of the scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) operates the Warmer Homes Scheme on behalf of my Department. The scheme is available to owner-occupied homes built before 2006 where the household meets certain Department of Social Protection (DSP) payment-related eligibility criteria including the Fuel Allowance Payment. Individual applications to the Warmer Homes Scheme are an operational matter for the SEAI and, as Minister, I have no role in such matters.

For an application to be accepted under the scheme, it must be in the name of the person in receipt of the qualifying DSP payment. Applicants can also contact the SEAI at any time to get support with making an application or further information on the status of their application either by email to warmerhomes@seai.ie or by telephone to 01 808 2005.

The SEAI has established a dedicated email address for queries from Oireachtas members so that such queries can be addressed promptly. The email address is oireachtas@seai.ie.
