Deputy James Geoghegan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine if he will detail whether any surveys have been carried out to estimate the amount of time taken up with administrative tasks where such time could be used more efficiently; if so, in which areas of the Department has this examination been carried out; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department is committed to improving processes and procedures to increase efficiency and performance. While my Department has not undertaken surveys “to estimate the amount of time taken up with administrative tasks”, the Department undertakes spending reviews as part of the Spending Review process overseen by the Department of Public Expenditure, NDP Delivery and Reform. Some of these reviews consider staffing costs. Details of these reviews can be viewed at gov.ie - The Spending Review
The Department’s current Statement of Strategy 2023 - 2026, outlines the Department’s commitment to innovation by improving Information Communication Technology (ICT) services allowing the Department to operate at the highest possible level.
