The Programme for Government 2025: Securing Ireland’s Future, recommitted to the national land use review. The first phase was published in March 2023 and focused on evidence gathering. It was led by the Environmental Protection Agency.

The current and second phase is further developing the knowledge and the analysis for how Ireland’s land can be used in a way that meets the Government’s inter-linked objectives and commitments across the five impact areas of: Socioeconomic; Climate, Biodiversity, Water, and Air Quality.

Delivery of the final second phase report to myself and my colleagues in Government, Ministers Heydon and O’Sullivan, by the independently chaired Land Use Review Oversight Group is expected shortly.
