Deputy Ivana Bacik asked the Minister for Culture, Communications and Sport the number of judicial review cases his Department has defended in each of the past ten years; the number in relation to which proceedings are pending or continuing; the number of cases which were lost and won, respectively, in the same period; the number of cases that settled in the past ten years; and if he will make a statement on the matter. In relation to the requested period up to October 2022, I would refer the Deputy to the responses to PQ 50765/22 of Thursday, 13 October 2022 (Dáil Number 224) in respect of the then Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media and PQ 50755/22 of Thursday, 13 October 2022 (Dáil Number 177) in respect of the then Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications.

The following table sets out the details requested by the Deputy in respect of the functions under my Department’s current configuration, in the period since October 2022.
