288. Deputy Darren O'Rourke asked the Minister for Education and Youth further to Parliamentary Question No. 327 of 12 June 2025, the number of teachers required to reduce the teacher pupil ratio to 19:1 and 18:1 respectively. [33379/25]

Each one point reduction in the staffing schedule at primary level for DEIS and non-DEIS schools requires over 400 additional teaching posts and so a four point reduction would require in the region of 1650 posts while a five point reduction would require in excess of 2000 posts.
