783. Deputy Richard Boyd Barrett asked the Minister for Health the estimated cost of scraping prescription charges for medical card holders; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [35675/25]

Minister for Health

The estimated full-year cost of abolishing all prescription charges is €69m. This costing does not take account of changes in demographics, in eligibility (e.g., changes in the number of medical card holders), or how the removal of prescription charges may impact claimant behaviour.
