882. Deputy Conor D. McGuinness asked the Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science to detail his engagement to date under the National Development Plan in relation to capital works at SETU; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [35968/25]
View answerUnder the National Development Plan (NDP), my Department allocates capital investment to Higher Education Institutions (HEI’s) through programmatic funding calls managed by the Higher Education Authority (HEA). These funding calls invite applications from universities and technological universities to bid for infrastructure and equipment funding. The HEA evaluates submissions based on strategic fit, value-for-money and alignment with national priorities before making recommendations to my Department for funding.
Under the NDP, my Department disbursed €4.24m in capital funding between Carlow and Waterford ITs from 1st January 2021 to 30th April 2022. Since the establishment of SETU (Carlow and Waterford Campuses) from 1st May 2022, over €27m has been disbursed to the Technological University in question.
