Deputy Emer Currie asked the Minister for Justice, Home Affairs and Migration further to Parliamentary Question Nos. 673 of 8 July 2025 and 2073 of 29 July 2025 and 1647 of 8 September 2025, the timeline for An Garda Síochána to be in a position to issue fixed charge notices for registration plate offences; and if he will make a statement on the matter. View answerI am advised that work is ongoing within An Garda Síochána to issue fixed charge notices for registration plate offences. The Garda authorities are currently making changes to relevant ICT systems and this will be followed by a period of system testing.
It is envisaged that process will be finalised before the end of this year, and operational Gardaí will be made aware of the new offences available to them on their mobility devices.
