Carer's Allowance (CA) is a means-tested social assistance payment made to a person who is habitually resident in the State and who is providing full-time care and attention to a child or an adult who has such a disability that, as a result, they require that level of care.

An application for CA was received from the person concerned on 27 August 2025.

CA was awarded from 28 August 2025. The person concerned was notified of this decision in writing on 26 September 2025.

A backdating review was initiated on foot of correspondence received on 06 October 2025. Following this review, the CA has been backdated with effect from 24 April 2025.

Arrears due from 24 April 2025 to 27 August 2025 will issue to the nominated bank account of the person concerned.

The person concerned was notified of this decision in writing on 07 October 2025.

I hope this clarifies the position for the Deputy.
