Each year, my Department allocates a recurrent grant to meet the staffing and operating costs in the Higher Education Authority (HEA). The purpose of this grant is to enable the HEA to carry out its functions as provided for in relevant legislation including the Higher Education Authority Act 2022.

Details of the annual funding is published in the Revised Estimates Volume (REV) each year. In 2024, €14.475m was provided for in the REV for current activities, with a further €1m provided for capital activities. In 2025, €16.162m was provided for in the REV for current activities, with a further €2m provided for capital activities.

The 2026 allocation has yet to be finalised. Details will be published in the 2026 Revised Estimates Volume in due course.
