Questions (166)

Rose Conway-Walsh

Question:

166. Deputy Rose Conway-Walsh asked the Minister for Transport the reason for such a disparity in pricing between online ticket reservations with Irish Rail and purchasing a ticket at the station; the reason those who are forced to purchase a ticket offline, after the window for online reservations has closed, are penalised with higher ticket prices; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As Minister for Transport, I have responsibility for policy and overall funding in relation to public transport; however, I am not involved in the day-to-day operations of public transport.

The queries raised by the Deputy are operational matters for Irish Rail, in conjunction with the NTA. I have, therefore, referred the Deputy's question to both for direct reply. Please advise my private office if you do not receive a reply within ten working days.

A referred reply was forwarded to the Deputy under Standing Orders.
