Where a state agency is has been assigned with ensuring Ireland's compliance with some aspect of EU law, implementation of that responsibility sits with the relevant agency in the first instance. My Department exercises an agency corporate governance and oversight role in line with the Code of Practice for the Governance of State Bodies. Noting the two specific examples cited in the Deputy's query, I have referred the question to the Road Safety Authority and National Transport Authority for a more detailed response in respect of their EU obligations. Please contact my office if a response is not received within ten days.

Neither I nor my Department have an oversight function in respect of Northern Irish agencies.
