Thank you, Deputy, for this question.

By way of background, the Education and Training Boards (ETBs) are autonomous statutory bodies that were established under the Education and Training Boards Act 2013. As such, they are required to have appropriate policies and procedures in place to manage any issues that may arise, which are in line with employment legislation, where relevant. As ETBs are independent employers, responsibility for staffing matters lies with them, with Ministerial approvals as may be determined from time to time. As such, any human resources-related queries should be directed to the ETB’s Human Resources Division. It would not be appropriate for the Minister or Departmental officials to comment on or otherwise become directly involved with an individual case.
