The Office of Public Works (OPW) can confirm that refurbishment works are planned on a vacant building to accommodate a new Garda station in Tubbercurry, Co. Sligo.

It was intended that another OPW Client would be co-located in the building with An Garda Síochána and a Part IX Planning application was prepared on this basis.

However the other OPW Client no longer has a need for the accommodation and An Garda Síochána are reviewing their operational requirements in light of this. Unfortunately this change of circumstances has prolonged the process, as funding and allocation of space are impacted.

Once agreement has been reached with An Garda Síochána on the space allocation the submission of the Part IX Planning application can proceed and, subject to approval, the tender process will then commence.
