376. Deputy Ruth Coppinger asked the Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment if a work permit application can be expedited for a person (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [71023/25]
View answerThe Employment Permits Section of my Department continues to operate with a strong focus on efficiency and improving overall processing timelines.
I am informed by the Employment Permits Unit that the application referenced in the details supplied has not yet been received.
If an employer wishes to request that an employment permit application be expedited, they may do so by submitting a detailed business case and completing an Employment Permit Expedite Request Form.
The following points should be noted:
• The submission of a business case does not guarantee that an application will be expedited.
• A separate business case is required for each individual application.
To further support applicants and reduce the need for individual status queries, the Department has this year introduced a Self-Service Portal. This system allows both employers and applicants to check the real-time status of their applications directly.
These tools are designed to provide timely updates and reduce the need for individual queries, helping the unit to focus resources on processing applications efficiently.

The Department remains committed to allocating resources where they are most needed — namely, in the processing of applications to ensure that all applicants are treated fairly and that overall timelines are kept to a minimum.
