I can advise the Deputy that the registration renewal cited was refused because the person studies abroad, and therefore is not resident in the State. There is no basis to register a permission to remain where the person does not reside in the State.

I am further advised that in order to return to Ireland the person referred to must apply for a visa. As this individual is resident in Poland, she can apply for a visa from the Irish Embassy in Warsaw. Details of how to apply for a visa from Poland can be found at: www.ireland.ie/en/poland/warsaw/services/visas/visas-for-ireland/.

As an Oireachtas member, you can also request the status of individual immigration cases by e-mail, using the Oireachtas Mail facility at: IMoireachtasmail@justice.ie, which has been specifically established for this purpose. This service enables up to date information on such cases to be obtained without the need to seek information by way of the Parliamentary Question process.
