I propose to take Questions Nos. 192 and 193 together.

Having received Government approval for the Private Wires Policy Statement in July this year, my Department has initiated the process of drafting the subsequent necessary Private Wires legislation.

The General Scheme received Government approval this week. The Heads of Bill along with the Regulatory Impact Assessment will shortly be published on the Department’s website.

A waiver for pre legislative scrutiny will not be sought.
