View answerAn Garda Síochána, as the nominated National Security Authority, conduct all liaison with police or security services abroad during the Security Clearance process.
Military authorities have advised that the security clearance process can take anything from 6 weeks to 9 months for candidates depending on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, their previous country(ies) of residence, the address(es) they have lived at, prior interactions with police or security services and the speed at which foreign authorities respond to requests from An Garda Síochána. These delays are beyond the scope of Ireland’s National Authority to address.
The Vetting/Security Clearance Process applies equally to applicants to both PDF and RDF.
