Information on the Defective Concrete Blocks Grant Scheme including government legislation, guidelines and the application process is readily available on the Government website at www.gov.ie/en/department-of-housing-local-government-and-heritage/services/defective-concrete-blocks-grant-scheme/?referrer=http://www.gov.ie/defectiveconcreteblocks/.

The scheme is administered by local authorities and is currently open to applications in five counties, namely Clare, Donegal, Limerick, Mayo and Sligo. These designated local authorities also provide extensive online information regarding the scheme and via walk in services.

My Department has also been supportive of applications by designated local authorities for Defective Concrete Blocks Community Facilitators. Their role is to support and guide the homeowner through the application process and facilitate access to relevant support services.

I am satisfied that the communication mechanisms that I have referenced are sufficient at this time to inform people about the defective concrete blocks issue and the options open to then should they suspect their home is damaged as a result of such blocks.
