The Garda Commissioner is responsible for the management and administration of An Garda Síochána, including the deployment of resources available to him, under the Policing, Security and Community Safety Act 2024.
The table below, provided by the Garda authorities, outlines the age profile of vehicles attached to the Garda Mounted Unit as of 30 November 2025:

The purchase and allocation of vehicles by An Garda Síochána is made on the basis of identified operational demands and the availability of resources. These needs are reviewed on a continual basis.
I am further informed by Garda management that there are currently no plans to purchase additional vehicles for the Mounted Unit as part of Fleet Management’s 2026 Purchase Plan.
