View answerI last met the Chief Superintendent in Cork city on 4 April 2025, during a visit to Tougher Garda Station. This meeting was also attended by senior Gardai based at Anglesea Street and Togher Garda Station.
The Garda Commissioner is responsible for the distribution and stationing of Garda personnel throughout the State under section 33 of the Policing, Security and Community Safety Act 2024. As Minister, I have no role in this matter.
It may be of interest to the Deputy to know that An Garda Síochána publishes detailed breakdowns on the allocation of Gardaí including the allocation of Probationer Gardaí by Division and Station. This information is updated on a monthly basis and can be found at the following link: [www.garda.ie/en/about-us/our-departments/human-resources-and-people-development/garda-hr-directorate/garda-strength-breakdown-2025/].
