View answerAs Minister of State for International & Road Transport, Logistics, Rail & Ports, I wish to advise that the Department is currently progressing the draft European Union (Motor Vehicle Type-Approval - Criteria for IO Approval and IO Employee Authorisation) Regulations 2025. The draft regulations are at the final stages of preparation and are expected to be signed shortly.
The Irish National Accreditation Board (INAB) will appoint the National Standards Authority of Ireland as the conformity assessment body responsible for implementation of the SERMI scheme in Ireland. As the INAB operates under the Health and Safety Authority, which is a state agency within the remit of the Department of Enterprise, Tourism and Employment, the Department of Transport is not in a position to comment on the timeframes for this appointment.
