I propose to take Questions Nos. 225 and 226 together.

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland, which is under the aegis of the Department of Health, is the central competent authority for food safety and as such lead in the investigation of such matters. The Authority issued a press release on 7th January 2026 in relation to this matter.

Consignments arriving at ports and airports in Northern Ireland and destined for premises in Ireland, are subjected to the same Import Control Inspections as apply at the Border Control Posts operated by my Department.

Question No. 226 answered with Question No. 225.
