As Minister of State for International & Road Transport, Logistics, Rail & Ports, I wish to advise that section 5 of the Road Traffic (Traffic and Parking) Regulations 1997, as amended, allows for specific exemptions to these regulations. Included in the exemptions is a vehicle being used in connection with the removal of an obstruction to traffic.

My Department is not aware of any current issues relating to the matter raised by the Deputy. My officials, however, are happy to receive submissions and examine any potential issues that may arise from such incidents.
