Funding is available through a range of funding programmes delivered by my Department for the delivery of new build social housing and the regeneration of local authority housing estates, including for infill social housing in established estates.

The delivery of such housing can be supported as part of broader regeneration projects, with housing regeneration specific funding available for the remediation of existing housing estates and the delivery of additional housing where design and space requirements allow. It can also be supported as new build housing through my Department's mainstream capital build programmes, such as the Social Housing Capital Investment Programme, facilitating local authorities to maximise the use of available space in established estates that do not require significant renewal or regeneration works.

Ultimately, the nature of social housing delivery, whether in-fill housing or otherwise, is a matter for each local authority in context of their capital housing programmes and the identified housing need.
