Deputy Pádraig Rice asked the Minister for Health the status of her Department’s review of the Primary Care Centre Programme; the aims of this review; if work has commenced; the timeline she is working towards for completion of the review; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The Department accepts the recommendations of the Comptroller and Auditor General’s (C&AG) Report on the Accounts of the Public Services 2024. To progress the recommendations of the C&AG, the Department has established a project to review the Primary Care Centre (PCC) programme, with the following objectives:• Definition of scope of services provided in Primary Care Centres.• Ensuring that PCC projects progressed yield optimum value for money – including inter alia infrastructure that meets the service needs of the population, regulatory requirements, adaptability, climate and are delivered in most cost-effective manner i.e. aligned with the Strategic Healthcare Infrastructure Framework.This recommendation will be addressed as part of that project which is expected to be completed in Q4 2026.
