My Department continues to oversee the preparation of Ireland's Social Climate Plan in close consultation with the European Commission and relevant Departmental stakeholders. In developing the plan, an Inter-Departmental working group has convened to support the development of the Plan.
An extended deadline of end March 2026 has been agreed with the European Commission for the submission of the draft Plan. In advance of that, it is planned to hold a public event at which information will be presented on how outcomes from the consultation are accounted for in the draft Plan. This final draft plan will be submitted to Government for approval in the coming weeks in advance of its submission to the European Commission for its final approval.
The schedule for the drawdown of funding from the Social Climate Fund will be included in the final submission of the Social Climate Plan. Payments from the Fund will be conditional upon the achievement of milestones and targets agreed upon with the Commission in the final Plan.
