In line with statutory and Government commitments a review of the operation of the Health (Termination of Pregnancy) Act 2018, including the 3-day wait, was initiated at the end of 2021.

The final report of this review made a range of recommendations, most of which are operational in nature with some proposing legislative change. The operational recommendations are being progressed and significant progress has been made.

Decisions in relation to the legislative recommendations requires careful consideration.
