The Magdalen Restorative Justice Ex-Gratia Scheme provides for lump sum payments between €11,500 to €100,000 depending on length of stay in the institution concerned, as well as a pension type payment up to the value of the State Contributory pension once the woman concerned reaches pension age. Prior to reaching pension age, the women who are not already in receipt of any State benefits are entitled to €120 per week from the State. In addition, all eligible applicants receive an enhanced medical card.

The Scheme, which is non-adversarial, remains open and, to date, approximately €33.4 million has been paid in lump sum awards to 834 applicants who qualified under the scheme. A breakdown of applications and awards in the period since 2013 is set out in the following table.
