View answerThe permanent site for Le Chéile Secondary School, Ballincollig, and Gaelscoil an Chaisleain at Lisheens, Ballincollig, has been acquired by Cork City Council by way of a Compulsory Purchase Order, on my behalf. The site remains in the possession of Cork City Council and legal ownership will be transferred in due course.
In the meantime, Cork City Council have agreed for the design of the school campus to proceed unabated, with their consent.
A joint major building project for the two schools is currently being delivered as part of the Departments Adapt 4 programme - Programme Innovate. This project is currently at the initial stages of architectural planning – Stage 1, where the Integrated Project Team (IPT) carry out a site and current building assessment and initial design sketch schemes are created. My Department has received the Stage 1 report and the State 1 meeting took place in late January 2026 between my Department, the IPT and school authorities. The meeting concluded with a request for the Design Team to submit a Stage 1 Addendum report addressing issues raised by the Department at the meeting.
