Written answers

Accommodation provided for people who are beneficiaries of temporary protection is done on the basis of contract and in accordance with various policies of my Department and the Government.

The purpose of recent and ongoing compliance inspection visits, to which the Deputy refers, is to establish whether or not these policies are being adhered to by both the provider of accommodation and the people residing there who are beneficiaries of temporary protection. Where breaches of policy or contractual arrangements are identified, my Department has and continues to take appropriate action.

Any centre providing accommodation to people with temporary protection may be subject to pre-arranged or unannounced visits from Departmental officials in order to confirm compliance with policy and contractual obligations.
