Written answers

The number of classrooms operating out of prefab accommodation may be provided by my department or by the school authority itself, with or without department sanction. For that reason, it is not possible to provide the Deputy with the information as requested.

Schools which identify that they have a shortfall in accommodation may apply for funding under my department's Additional School Accommodation Scheme (ASA). The application form and information relating to this scheme are available on: www.gov.ie/en/department-of-education/services/additional-accommodation-scheme/#current-status-of-additional-accommodation-projects

The purpose of the Additional School Accommodation (ASA) scheme is to ensure that essential mainstream classroom and Special Education Needs (SEN) accommodation is available to cater for pupils enrolled each year, where the need cannot be met by the school's existing accommodation.
