619. Deputy Malcolm Byrne asked the Minister for Culture, Communications and Sport his views on the restructuring of RTÉ agreed as part of the multi-annual funding package agreed with the organisation. [15114/26]
View answerIn July 2024 Government approved a three-year, multi-annual funding arrangement for RTÉ for the periods 2025 to 2027, which was put in place to enable the broadcaster to commence implementation of its 2025-2029 Statement of Strategy.
The Strategy, which was approved by the Board of RTÉ and published in June 2024, sets out a number of objectives and actions for the continued reform of the broadcaster, while seeking to place RTÉ onto a financially sustainable footing. Given the statutory independence of RTÉ under the Broadcasting Act 2009, delivery of the Strategy is a matter for the RTÉ Board and Director General.
