Comprehensive programme-level statistics for social housing delivery to end Q3 2025 are published on my Department's website, including for social housing acquisitions, the data is broken down by individual local authority. Q4 2025 delivery statistics are currently being compiled and validated and will be published in due course.

The number of units purchased and amounts recouped to local authorities in each year for purchases, including preliminary data for 2025, are summarised in the table below.

Year

No. of Units Recouped

Amount Recouped to Local Authorities

2023

1,830

€417 million

2024

1,501

€520 million

2025

775

€290 million

Details and allocations in respect of the 2026 Second Hand Social Housing Acquisitions Programme will be announced shortly. Significant funding will again be made available to help alleviate shorter-term pressures, affording local authorities the flexibility needed to respond while they scale up their construction programmes. I expect the allocations for 2026, when announced, will be more than adequate to support any priority acquisitions that may be needed throughout the year.
