Section 2 of the Prosecution of Offences Act 1974 provides that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) shall be independent in the performance of their functions. Therefore the Office is not an agency or body under my Department's remit and funding is provided centrally through Vote 5 – Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, for which the Department of the Taoiseach is responsible.

The Director is completely independent and as such I have no role in the operations, functions, oversight or governance of her Office.
