View answerThe Government is committed to taking measures to combat and prevent fraud and cybercrime. There is close cooperation across the whole of Government on this issue, including between An Garda Síochána and the National Cyber Security Centre.
An Garda Síochána Analysis Service conducted a search of Custody Logs in PULSE where the Arrest Reason was given as ‘Fraud/Economic Crime’ for the 2016 to 2025 period.
The count of unique custody logs/arrests and the count of unique persons arrested each year as follows:

The Garda authorities have further advised that all members of An Garda Síochána can investigate crimes of a fraudulent nature and many members throughout the country have received specialist training in this area of crime investigation.
