42. Deputy Pa Daly asked the Minister for Transport the number of cars in the private car fleet that are electric, excluding hybrids; the percentage of the overall national car fleet which are electric, excluding hybrids; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15272/26]

As Minister of State with responsibility for International & Road Transport, Logistics, Rail and Ports, I wish to advise that on 31 January 2026 there were 2,522,265 private vehicles with current motor tax. Of which, 105,793 were Battery Electric Vehicles representing 4.19% of the national private fleet.

The statistics requested by the Deputy are publicly available at the below link and are updated monthly.
