Deputy Mairéad Farrell asked the Minister for Climate, Energy and the Environment to provide an update on the 2025 Programme for Government commitment to protect and recognise the Great Western Lakes including Lough Corrib SAC in County Galway as salmonid waters; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Minister of State at the Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment

This commitment is being progressed through the development of a management plan for the Great Western Lakes.

I refer the Deputy to my previous reply to Parliamentary Question No. 176 of 4 February 2026 in relation to the status of that management plan. There has been no change to the position set out in that reply.
