468. Deputy Emer Currie asked the Minister for Education and Youth for details regarding salaries (details supplied); and if she will make a statement on the matter. [16690/26]

I wish to inform the Deputy that the salary structure for teachers including Principals is based on a common salary scale irrespective of whether the school is a special school. In addition to the salary, a post of responsibility allowance payment is allocated for Principals duties and this post of responsibility allowance will vary depending on the number of whole-time equivalent teachers employed in the school. The subject qualifications of the teachers employed in the school are not considered into the salary of the teacher.
